Cutaways and tapered tail The sharp release edge on the tail allows for an earlier take-off, while the cutaways and the way the tail tapers reduces the volume in the tail, helping to bring the board’s centre of buoyancy forward, right underneath your stance.  Touchdown Recovery The nose spine and double-concave in the underside of the nose, combined with the steep bevelled rails, helps with touchdown recovery. The V-shape in the bottom contour of the board breaks the water surface on touch down, so the board dives in gently and releases quickly, without sticking. (Straps sold separately) GORE™ WATERPROOF 2-WAY VENT The EPS core of a high volume board is affected by extreme temperature changes. To prevent air pressure build-up we’ve installed a two-way GORE™ Protective Vent on the top deck. This allows air to pass in and out of the board, while preventing water from entering. The vent is factory-fitted and does not require any adjustment. DOUBLE CONCAVE DECK There is a significant amount of concave in the deck that works to position the rider lower and makes the board more stable to ride. The concave puts all the volume outside on the rails, so the centre of the board is the low point. It creates the best potential for balancing and is the most comfortable and responsive shape to stand on.   HYBRID CARBON TECHNOLOGY Lighter weight construction for stiffness, manoeuvrability and glide. The stiffer the board, the better it will pump and the more responsive it feels. A light yet durable epoxy composite laminate, with a balanced carbon and e-glass fibre layup is wrapped around an EPS core. High-density closed cell PVC reinforcement around the foil track mount, leash plug and foot strap inserts spreads the load. An ultra-lightweight double bamboo reinforcement layer under the standing area adds greater impact resistance and rigidity. INTEGRATED PVC STRUCTURAL STRINGER SYSTEM The DropBox foil mounting tracks are embedded into a high-density closed-cell PVC block. Two high-density PVC stringers are glued to each side of this block, distributing the load lengthwise, and the full system connects the top and bottom laminate skins for maximum support. DROPBOX ADJUSTABLE FOIL MOUNTING TRACK Speed-dial your foil setup. Simply drop your foil pre-assembled with screws and t-nuts into the track, slide it backwards, then tighten the screws to fasten. Our unique structurally-integrated DropBox has a longer track for a wider adjustment range, allowing you to precision-tune the foil set up for your rider weight. A measurement guide next to the track aids correct positioning. Industry-standard 90mm track spacing means the DropBox is compatible with most foil systems. Tail kickpad with cutouts on the Swell for your feet while prone paddling. Transverse markers on the deckpad provide a visual reference, giving you confidence to adjust. INTEGRATED UNDERSIDE CARRY HANDLE Recessed carry handle on the underside of the foil board allows balanced load handling with or without the foil attached and leaves your other hand free to carry your wing or paddle down to the water.  COMPACT OUTLINE WITH GENEROUS NOSE VOLUME The shorter the board, the more effective it is for pumping, the less swing weight, and the more aerodynamic and manoeuvrable it is when riding up on the foil. The reverse shear of the deck and downward curve in the nose allows for greater control over the board, even when fully submerged on water starts. The extra nose volume was added on top so the boards could be cut short without losing stability and allows you to ride a board 6” shorter. The volume in the nose also stops you nose-diving when you’re paddling into a wave and helps keep the water off the concave deck. CUTAWAYS AND TAPERED TAIL The sharp release edge on the tail allows for an earlier take-off, while the cutaways and the way the tail tapers reduces the volume in the tail, helping to bring the board’s centre of buoyancy forward, right underneath your stance. Having the centre of buoyancy directly underneath your stance is essential for finding that sweet spot on the board where you can remain without shifting your weight back and forward. The wedged tail shape reduces the overall length and improves the pumpability of the foil. Every movement counts to staying up on the foil.

High performance prone foil board The high performance Apple Skipper prone foil board: thinner, stiffer, more connected. Surf foiling rapidly evolves and so should your equipment. Advanced riders in our pro and ambassador team were ready for the next step in performance so we designed the Apple Skipper prone.  Skipper concept The Skipper concept revolves around a new hull concept. The boards are thin throughout, giving a connected feel to the foil. Under the front foot, the bottom features a unique “bulge” that actually sits slightly lower than the foil box. This bulge displaces water upon touchdown and it makes the board “skip” back up. Ideal for foam bashes and more radical foil surfing. The Skipper prone features grab rails in the nose area, these really help holding on to the board when duck diving.  Tight turns in the pocket The outline of the board is much narrower than the other surf foil boards we make. Perfect for tight turns in the pocket and harder carves without the risk of the rail touching the water and slowing you down. Finally the foil boxes are placed slightly forward and they feature the all new Appletree long boxes for more foil placement flexibility. Stick your landings There is also more rocker in the boards bottom, while keeping the deck as flat as possible. This helps sticking landings and it forces the board up when paddling in. You do lose a bit of early planing, but this is a board for experienced riders, who should be fine with a little less volume and paddle power.  Lighter and advanced riders The lineup in the Skipper prone is compact throughout. Starting at a 4’5” in 28L. Ideal for lighter and advanced riders. Sizes up do not go up much in length, but more in thickness to gain volume. Stock sizes are 28L, 34L and 40L. In between sizes are available as custom orders.  The skipper prone comes as “board only”. Inserts and pads are available as custom options.  Dylan Wichmann on the skipper prone 28L: “Being much thinner than the other models, the connection to the foil is much more direct. I really like the outline, being narrower and having a more pulled in tail allows you to turn that much harder, without having to worry about a wide tail catching on the water.”  “I also really like the rocker in the nose, while keeping the rest of the board flat. This means you will still be standing parallel to your foil but be less likely to have the nose catch on the water when touching down. I think all surf foil boards will start to look more and more like this model.”

The inserts are set in both the V and straight line configurations. The deck is covered with a sanded 3mm black EVA pad. This pad gives reliable grip, but not too much, so it’s still easy to move your feet around. 

Kite foil – wake foil – tow in foil and dock start The Apple Skipper Short is the shortest foil board of our Skipper concept range. It is a fantastic choice for riders who have some experience, and are looking to take their kite foil – wake foil – tow in foiling and dock start skills to the next level. The boards are thin throughout, giving a connected feel to the foil. Under the front foot, the bottom features a unique “bulge” that actually sits slightly lower than the foil box. This bulge displaces water upon touchdown and it makes the board “skip” back up.  Small and narrow The Apple Skipper Short is the small, narrow pocket board version of the Skipper concept. Its shape and construction makes it very responsive and stiff. The Skipper concept bottom shape makes the board just skip off the water’s surface. This design allows for more accurate and fluent pumping, so you can concentrate on your performance on the water.  Lightweight, sleek and compact As a foil rider, you have certain expectations of your equipment. Apple Skipper Short meets all those needs and more. It weighs just 2,5-2,8 Kg. Which is extremely low for such a stiff board, so there is minimal swing weight in the board.  Crank those turns Compared to our popular mini foil model, the Skipper short is much narrower, so not as easy to ride as the mini foil for sure. But when on foil, you will feel increased stiffness and performance, and with a narrower outline, you will be able to carve the board harder and really crank those turns.  Take off like a rocket The Apple Skipper Short is our lightest, most responsive foil board. As you pump and build up speed, you will take off like a rocket! And when you hit the water, the board does not slow down at all. It definitely skips right off the surface just as its name states. A light yet durable epoxy composite laminate, with a balanced carbon and e-glass fibre layup is wrapped around an EPS core. High-density closed cell PVC reinforcement around the foil track mount, leash plug and foot strap inserts spreads the load. An ultra-lightweight double bamboo reinforcement layer under the standing area adds greater impact resistance and rigidity. INTEGRATED PVC STRUCTURAL STRINGER SYSTEM The DropBox foil mounting tracks are embedded into a high-density closed-cell PVC block. Two high-density PVC stringers are glued to each side of this block, distributing the load lengthwise, and the full system connects the top and bottom laminate skins for maximum support. DROPBOX ADJUSTABLE FOIL MOUNTING TRACK Speed-dial your foil setup. Simply drop your foil pre-assembled with screws and t-nuts into the track, slide it backwards, then tighten the screws to fasten. Our unique structurally-integrated DropBox has a longer track for a wider adjustment range, allowing you to precision-tune the foil set up for your rider weight. A measurement guide next to the track aids correct positioning. Industry-standard 90mm track spacing means the DropBox is compatible with most foil systems. GORE™ WATERPROOF 2-WAY VENT (NOT IN 3'10) The EPS core of a high volume board is affected by extreme temperature changes. To prevent air pressure build-up we’ve installed a two-way GORE™ Protective Vent on the top deck. This allows air to pass in and out of the board, while preventing water from entering. The vent is factory-fitted and does not require any adjustment. *3’10 does not have a GORE™ vent. DEEP-V DOUBLE NOSE CONCAVE The nose spine and double-concave in the underside of the nose, combined with the steep bevelled rails, helps with touchdown recovery. The V-shape in the bottom contour of the board breaks the water surface on touch down, so the board dives in gently and releases quickly, without sticking. The V also helps to funnel air under the board, which helps it to release faster. STEEP BEVELLED RAILS Help with touchdown recovery and water release.
